Learning MUZZY Chinese — “I like the fact that MUZZY is highly engaging and interactive,” says Benjamin’s father.

Learning Chinese with MUZZY is fun for Benjamin, age 6.

“From the time Benjamin started MUZZY Chinese seven months ago, he never thought of it as language education at all,” says his father. “Subconsciously, he must know which language switch he turns on. All language is natural, and switching is natural to him. As a father, I like the fact that MUZZY is highly engaging and interactive. You learn it without knowing it or working at it.”

Born in China, Benjamin’s father wanted his son to learn the language of his heritage. “So when Early Advantage came out with MUZZY Chinese when Benjamin was 6, I ordered it immediately,” he says. “I’ve been a ‘preacher’ about MUZZY ever since. MUZZY’s impact is very, very positive. Benjamin likes Level II especially, but the Level I restaurant scene is still a top favourite. In the car we play the CD.”

I had never taught Chinese to Benjamin before MUZZY. But we now use more Chinese in our conversations. I speak in simple sentences to Ben, i.e. ‘Are you hungry?’ ‘Don’t be late!’ ‘What clothes will you wear?’ And Ben responds to my Chinese in English sentences, showing his comprehension even when there are new or unknown non-MUZZY words. Now my parents are speaking to Ben in Chinese. He’s never been to China but I can’t wait to hear Ben speak Chinese there!”
