"I know that my knowledge of French helped me get the job."

Debbie at her Harvard graduation.

At 3, Debbie proved to her parents that there is no such thing as “too young” for MUZZY. At the prestigious Harvard University in the USA, Debbie’s language skills helped her get a great summer job as an editor of a travel guide.

“When I started taking French in secondary school, I found it quite easy. I did well enough in my exams to go into a higher level class when I got to university,” says Debbie.

“I grew up in a MUZZY household,” says Debbie. “I never really thought about it as ‘learning a language’ any more than I thought about Sesame Street as ‘learning my letters and numbers.’ To me, the characters and stories were about playing – just a natural part of my childhood. What little kid wouldn’t love cartoons and songs?”

“These days, I like speaking French with real, live people. People are so much friendlier when you make the effort, and it’s much easier to get around. So far, I’ve used my French in France, Morocco and Montreal.”

But, Debbie admits, “for a kid, hanging out with a princess or a fuzzy Muzzy is so much cooler.”
